Card safety in person

Tips to pay safely in stores

Using your Kadmos card in person is convenient, but it’s important to take a few extra steps to ensure your safety and protect your money. Here’s how to keep your card secure when making payments in person:
  • Memorize Your PIN, Don’t Write It Down: Your PIN is the key to your account. Memorize it and avoid writing it down or storing it in places where others might find it. If someone gets hold of your PIN, they could access your funds. You are always able to view your PIN using your Kadmos app.
  • Don’t Share Your Card or PIN with Anyone: Never give your card or PIN to anyone, even people you trust. Allowing others to use your card or know your PIN increases the risk of unauthorized transactions and also revokes your ability to dispute a potentially fraudulent transaction. Keep your card in your possession at all times.
  • Avoid Skimming: Skimming is when criminals steal your card information using devices attached to payment terminals. Here’s how you can protect yourself:
    • Look for Cameras: Always check for small, hidden cameras that might be installed near payment terminals, especially when entering your PIN. Shield the keypad with your hand when entering your PIN to block anyone from seeing it.
    • Pay Attention to the Keypad: If the keypad looks unusual, feels loose, or seems like it has been tampered with, don’t use that terminal. Skimmers may install fake keypads to capture your PIN.
    • Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Be cautious of people standing too close to you while you enter your PIN or complete a transaction. They could be trying to see your PIN or distract you to steal your card.
  • Monitor Your Transactions in the Kadmos App: The Kadmos app allows you to keep an eye on all your transactions in real time. After making a payment, you can open the app and check if the correct amount was deducted from your account. If you notice anything suspicious, block your card in the Kadmos app and report the suspicious transaction immediately using the app’s support features.
Safety Tip: Taking these small steps can help you avoid fraud and protect your money. Always be mindful when using your card in public, and regularly review your account activity.
