Using ATMs safely

Learn how to protect your funds

Using ATMs is a convenient way to access your money, but it’s important to stay alert and protect yourself from fraud. Follow these simple tips to ensure you use ATMs safely:

1. Avoid Skimming Devices

Criminals sometimes attach skimming devices to ATMs to steal card information. Here’s how to protect yourself:
  • Look for Cameras: Be cautious of hidden cameras around the ATM. Scammers may place small cameras to capture your PIN as you enter it. If you see anything suspicious, use a different ATM.
  • Pay Attention to the Keypad: Check the ATM keypad before entering your PIN. If the keypad feels loose or looks unusual, it could be a fake one placed by criminals to record your PIN. If something feels off, cancel the transaction and find another ATM.
  • Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Always be mindful of people around you when using an ATM. If someone is standing too close, wait until they move or find another machine. Shield the keypad with your hand while entering your PIN to prevent anyone from seeing it.

2. Use ATMs in Well-Lit, Secure Areas

Choose ATMs in well-lit, busy locations like inside banks, shopping malls, or other secure areas. ATMs in isolated spots are more vulnerable to tampering and less safe for you to use, especially at night.

3. Monitor Your Kadmos App

After using the ATM, keep an eye on your account through the Kadmos app. Regularly checking your transactions ensures you can spot any suspicious activity early and report it to Kadmos for quick resolution.
Pro Tip: Always inspect the ATM for anything unusual, shield your PIN from prying eyes, and stick to ATMs in well-lit, secure locations. By staying alert, you can protect your card and your money from fraud.
