Why is my card transaction “Processing”?

Understand how settlement works

When you make a purchase with your Kadmos card, you might see the transaction status as Processing in the Kadmos app. This means the payment has been authorized but not yet fully settled. Let’s break down what happens during this stage:

1. What Happens During Processing?

When you use your card, the merchant requests payment authorization from Kadmos. At this point, the amount is temporarily held in your account, but the actual transfer of funds hasn’t occurred yet. The transaction remains in this “processing” phase until the merchant submits the final amount for settlement.

2. How Long Does It Take to Settle?

Settlement typically occurs within a few days, but it can vary depending on the merchant and the country. During this time, the status remains as Processing.

3. Impact on FX Rates and Amounts

If your transaction involves a foreign currency, the final amount might change slightly. This is because the exchange rate can fluctuate between the time of purchase and settlement. Once the transaction is settled, the status will change to Completed, and the amount is finalized.

4. When the Transaction is Completed

When the status changes to Completed, it means the funds have been transferred from your Kadmos account to the merchant. At this point, the transaction is final, and no further changes to the amount will occur.
Understanding the “Processing” stage helps you anticipate slight changes in your balance and stay on top of your spending. For real-time updates, keep an eye on your transactions in the Kadmos app.
